Condition terminology matters when buying a luxury watch. Here's what each term means in practice.
BNIB (Brand New In Box)
Never worn. Stickers may or may not be present, but zero signs of use. Complete set with all original packaging. This is as close to buying from an AD as you can get secondhand.
Unworn
Similar to BNIB — may have been tried on briefly or had stickers removed. No visible wear. Functionally identical to brand new.
Pre-Owned / Excellent
Worn but minimal signs of use. Hairline scratches only visible under magnification. Mechanically perfect. Represents the best value in the market.
Pre-Owned / Good
Normal wear from regular use. Visible but not deep scratches. May benefit from a polish. Great entry point for first-time buyers.
