Our Authentication Process

Every piece that passes through Open Wrist is inspected before listing and again before shipping. Our process is conservative: if something is uncertain, the watch doesn't list. Here is what we check.

What we inspect

Reference & serial

Cross-checked against manufacturer references and known production windows.

Case & bracelet

Engravings, hallmarks, finishing, and weight checked against factory standards.

Dial & hands

Print quality, font, lume application, and date wheel alignment under loupe.

Movement

Caliber confirmed, finishing inspected, timegrapher run for rate, amplitude, and beat error.

Crown & crystal

Engravings, glass type, AR coating, and seal integrity verified.

Box & papers

When present: warranty card, serial match, dealer stamp, and invoice cross-checked.

Service partners

For complex authentications — modified watches, vintage with refinish history, or anything we want a second opinion on — we partner with independent NYC watchmakers and, where applicable, send pieces to the manufacturer for service-history confirmation. The result of any third-party inspection is shared with the buyer on request.

If something's off

Every order ships with a 3-day inspection window from delivery. If you have any concern when the watch arrives, message us before the window closes and we'll arrange insured return at our cost. Authentic or your money back.
